St. Jude, Supercross partner to launch a text-to-give campaign
Three-time Monster Energy Supercross Champion Ryan Dungey has partnered with Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, to launch a text-to-give campaign for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® during this Saturday’s race at U.S. Bank Stadium.
During the event, fans can join Dungey and St. Jude in the fight against childhood cancer by texting DUNGEY to 785833 and making a monthly donation of $20 on their credit card while receiving an exclusive Ryan Dungey T-shirt.
Thanks to generous donors, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food – because all they should worry about is helping their child live.
Dungey became a St. Jude ambassador in 2012 after visiting the hospital with other fellow Target-sponsored athletes. His time spent with patient families inspired him to create an annual summer event in his hometown, Hastings, Minnesota, called the St. Jude Ride & 5K Run, that has raised more than $405,000 to date. He also wears the St. Jude logo on his racing gear and engages his peers in supporting the St. Jude mission.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases and depends on the support from entities like Monster Energy Supercross, athletes like Ryan, and their fans.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is making enormous progress. Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall survival rate for childhood cancer from 20 percent to more than 80 percent since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude is working to drive the overall survival rate for childhood cancer to 90 percent and won’t stop until no child dies from cancer. Despite this progress, pediatric cancer remains the leading cause of death by disease among U.S. children ages 14 and younger. So the work at St. Jude is not done.
